The cost of each Dolly depends on the details provided. Dolly’s pricing model considers a number of factors, including:
- The items being moved.
- Where items are being delivered.
- The number of helpers requested.
- The vehicle type requested.
- When the Dolly is booked.
Accepted Payment Methods
While Dolly is unable to accept cash, Dolly is able to accept payment through the following methods, which can be set up in your Dolly account:
- Credit or Debit Card
- Apple Pay
- Venmo (via booking in the Dolly App only)
Please note that you should never pay for your Dolly in person. Your Dolly will only be charged via the digital payment method connected to your Dolly Account. If you would like to tip your Helper(s) for a job well done, you are welcome to do so in cash, or through our app or website.
Price Quote Generator
To get a price quote, download the Dolly app or visit book.dolly.com to get started. You’ll be prompted to tell us what you’re moving, where you’re moving it, and when you’d like it moved. After we receive those key details, you will receive a guaranteed price and will have the option to book your Dolly. Price quotes are only valid if received via Dolly.com and expire within the hour.
When will I be charged?
When you submit your Dolly details, Dolly will place a hold on your card for the amount of the Dolly. This is only a hold, not a charge on your card. This is done to ensure that you can pay for the full amount of the Dolly. The hold on your card is typically removed within 1-3 business days, depending on your bank’s policy.
When the Dolly is completed and you have reviewed your Helpers (or 24 hours after the Helper marks the job complete, whichever comes first), your card will be charged for the full amount of your Dolly. At this time you will receive a receipt of your completed Dolly.
Promo Codes / Discounts
Unfortunately, Dolly does not have promo codes readily available. Periodically we send promo codes via email or on social media. Give us a follow on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, and subscribe to our emails as we occasionally share promotions there.
While they are not necessary, Helpers greatly appreciate tips for a job well done. You can tip Helpers in cash, or through the app (or on book.dolly.com), which will prompt you to review them (and tip if you'd like) after your Dolly is complete. Please remember that outside of tipping, all services are to be paid via the website or app.
Price Quote Changes
Your price could have changed for one of two reasons:
- If your price changed after your Dolly started, your Dolly may have been adjusted by your Helpers. This is due to the requirements of the Dolly - things like the items being moved, or the locations of pickup and delivery - changing. Adjustment fees are only charged when agreed upon by the Customer.
- If your price changed between getting a price and booking your Dolly, the price might have changed due to demand. Similar to airlines, Dolly offers dynamic prices that change based on demand.
What is an adjustment?
When your Dolly is in progress, you may receive notice that an adjustment has been made. An adjustment is any change made to the Dolly details (after the Dolly has been started) that affects the final price. Adjustments occur after the Dolly has been started by the Helper(s). Examples of adjustments include adding a location, adding an additional item to the Dolly, or adding extra in-home help.
To ensure Helpers are paid for the extra work, you must approve the adjustment before the Helpers can do the extra work. If you have trouble approving an adjustment or want to dispute an adjustment request, please contact our support team.
Facebook Marketplace Purchase Payments
Helpers are not authorized to handle cash, so require our customers to handle payment directly with the seller. Prior to the Helpers arrival at the pickup location, please ensure that payment has already been arranged.
